April 2009

Well, here we are, back in St Andre getting stuck into the gardening, planting the veg patch and taking the cover off the pool…because it is 21 degrees and the sun is shining!

We love this time of year out here – long warm days, everything springing into life and lots of peace and quiet. We’ve got our first guests of the season in the gites at the moment – and what a hardy lot they are…32km of canoeing down the Ardeche gorges yesterday…thirsty work it was so we had to crack open some tasty Muscat upon their return and watch the sun go down. As per previous years at the gites, we will be teaming up with Sam to pick some good wines for summer drinking…let the tasting commence!

The winter season is almost over with just a couple more weeks to go – while Adam and I are here, Sophie, our gourmet kitchen goddess, is holding the fort at the chalet Florame in Courchevel. Much of last summer’s produce from the gites garden made it over to our chalet in the Alps this year – homemade fig and blackberry jams, home made garlicky sun dried tomatoes, verveine tea and herbs from the garden. All that with a brilliant amount of snow this year…let’s hope next winter will be as good!

Anyhow we’ll stop yacking on now. We hope 2009 has been good so far for all of our past guests and that we will be seeing many of you again this year as well as lots of new people! A plus tard nos amis!
